It’s official: Odell Beckham Jr.’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns has come to an end.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news that the Browns have released the star wide receiver after reaching an agreement with Beckham’s representatives regarding his contract status.
Shortly after the announcement, Browns Executive Vice President and General Manager Andrew Berry released the following statement:
“After careful consideration, internal discussions and conversations with Odell and his representation, we’ve determined that it is in the best interest of all parties involved that Odell no longer play for the Cleveland Browns. We appreciate all his efforts and contributions while in Cleveland, but we’ve just reached a point where it is best that we move forward as a team without Odell. We are finalizing the process of granting Odell his release and we wish him well as he continues his career.”
Beckham’s Browns Legacy: Talent, but No Chemistry
Beckham played 29 games in a Browns uniform, putting up solid numbers with 114 receptions for 1,586 yards and seven touchdowns. He also made some plays on the ground, rushing eight times for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Despite his undeniable talent—just look back at his electrifying days with the Giants—things never quite clicked for OBJ in Cleveland. Whether it was scheme fit, chemistry, or other factors, the Browns decided it was time to part ways.
