The Ravens have inked cornerback Marcus Peters to a three-year, $42 million contract extension according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The deal includes $32 million in guaranteed money and allows him to hit free agency as a 29-year-old. It is a win-win outcome for both parties.
There are only so many every-week No.1 cornerbacks in the NFL, and Peters certainly qualifies as one; Pro Football Focus has Peters as the No. 3 corner in the NFL this season between his stints with the Rams and the Ravens. The mid-season trade of Peters marked the complete turnaround for the Ravens defense.
Peters’ playmaking ability-he is one of the premier ballhawks in the league with five interceptions- has allowed the Ravens to blitz opposing quarterbacks at league-leading levels, which is another way this innovative team has created an advantage in the AFC.
