Washington Redskins Coach Jay Gruden Says He Feels TE Jordan Reed Should Be Ready for the Opener

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Tuesday that he expects veteran tight end Jordan Reed to be ready for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles according to John Keim of ESPN.

“We’re quite confident that Jordan will be fine,” Gruden told reporters on Reed’s status.

Reed was placed in the league’s concussion protocol after a massive hit by Atlanta Falcons safety Keanu Neal in last Thursday’s exhibition game but has almost two weeks to heal.

Of greater concern is the fact that this is at least the 29-year-old’s seventh reported concussion.

Vernon Davis is next up on the tight end depth chart for Washington.
