Unhappy RB Melvin Gordon Says He Wants to End Up with the Los Angeles Chargers

Despite threatening to hold out into the regular season and/or demanding a trade if he does not get a new long term deal, running back Melvin Gordon says he “wants to end up with the Chargers” according to Bobby Belt of NFL Network.

“I want to end up with the Chargers,” Gordon said. “That’s my home. That’s the team that blessed me with an opportunity, and I can’t forget that. But like I said, I know I’m in an opportunity right now where I know I have to take advantage of it, and I want to get paid.”

The 26-year-old Gordon is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. The two sides have a few weeks to ge something done before training camp begins in late July but thus far the negotiations appear to be going nowhere.

Gordon is currently scheduled to make $5.6 million in 2019.
