We are coming to the end of the NFL Playoffs as there are just four teams left. The championship round is here folks, and it’s going to be a good one.
This past weekend, we saw the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers get toppled by the Jacksonville Jaguars in a surprising game. There weren’t that many people who thought, as a follow up to the Jaguars performance the week before against the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville was not going to get past the Steelers. But they did, and this brings about a very good playoff game between the Jaguars and the Patriots. The Patriots will be the favorite in that one.
The most exciting game of the playoffs and perhaps the most exciting of the year, came when the Vikings earned a last-second victory over the New Orleans Saints with a walk-off touchdown. It was the first walk-off touchdown in the history of the NFL playoffs, and it was big. The Eagles edged past the Falcons while the Patriots easily got past the Tennessee Titans on their way to another AFC Championship.
We are all set for Championship weekend now. So, without further delay, here are the rankings for the last four teams in the NFL playoffs in this week’s Sometimes Late but Always Consistent NFL Power Poll.
- New England Patriots-(LW 1) The Patriots cruised past the Tennessee Titans this last weekend for an easy win. It would appear that they are poised to earn another Super Bowl berth but Jacksonville and their strong defense stand in the way. It may seem like a given but I bet the Patriots struggle a little getting past Jacksonville.
- Minnesota Vikings-(LW 2) The Vikings escaped with a last-second win on Sunday and are poised to be the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Will they get past the Eagles? That’s going to be difficult. They are still the best of the two however and need to prove it on Sunday.
- Philadelphia Eagles-(LW 6) The Eagles surprised many by defeating the Atlanta Falcons and are just one step away from being in the Super Bowl. They will have a tough outing against the Minnesota Vikings but are at home and have a strong defense. The biggest question is can they do something on offense as they face one of the most powerful defenses in the NFL. We are going to find out in what should be the best game of the two.
- Jacksonville Jaguars-(LW 7) Not many people thought that Jacksonville would be in the position they are in. They are just one game away from the Super Bowl. But they are and have a huge task ahead of them this Sunday. If they could make it past the Patriots, it would be their first Super Bowl appearance ever. You could root for them because of that right? Perhaps the underdog will come out on top.
