Tennessee Titans DC Dean Pees Announces Retirement

One day after an AFC Title game loss to the Chiefs, the Titans lost again on Monday, this time on their coaching staff as defensive coordinator Dean Pees has announced his retirement after 12 seasons in the NFL.

Pees is 70 years of age and battled some health issues during the 2018 season. He spent six years as the head coach at Kent State but has spent most of his lengthy football career as a defensive assistant.

Pees served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Patriots, Ravens and Titans from 2006-2019, leading a top-12 defense in points allowed per game in all but one year. He has Super Bowl rings from both the Patriots and the Ravens.

Pees did a great job in his two years as the DC under Mike Vrabel in Tennessee.

He deserves plenty of credit for holding the Patriots (13 points) and Ravens (12) in check during the Titans magical playoff run in January and will be greatly missed.
