KABOOM. The Atlanta Falcons make a dynamite splash in free agency, signing free agent RB Steven Jackson. You can count this as a double win, as he’s a great receiving back (averaged 8.4 yards per catch last season without a real WR threat to take away attention) who has great open-field vision and toughness carrying the ball, AND this signing keeps the rival Green Bay Packers – who highly coveted Jackson – from adding him.
It’s frightening because Steven Jackson has played on some truly bad offenses with uncreative play-callers like Brian Schottenheimer. I am looking forward to see what he’ll do on this team, with a chance to go to Super Bowl XLVIII.
I have Julio Jones ranked as the 3rd-best wide receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson. It’s impossible to compare stats as the Arizona Cardinals haven’t had an O-line or QB, and Julio is double-teamed, which springs WR Roddy White.
Once TE Tony Gonzalez returns, you may seriously be looking at 5 Hall of Famers on the same offense. The powerhouses of the NFC – San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons – keep getting better. Keep an eye out for the Philadelphia Eagles, as well.
Hit “Like” if you believe the Falcons are the team to beat in the NFC South!
