The Seahawks have signed quarterback Geno Smith according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Originally a second-round pick by the New York Jets out of West Virginia, Smith was an abject failure as a starting quarterback for Gang Green but has since carved out a respectable career as a backup. He spent the 2018 season backing up Philip Rivers for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Now 28 years old, Smith has a bette rthan even chance of winning the No.2 job in Seattle as former draft bust Paxton Lynch is the only other quarterback on the roster behind Russell Wilson.
Like the Chargers, however, the No.2 job in Seattle is a pretty dead-end job as Wilson has never missed a regular season game in his NFL career.
The Seahawks will be Smith’s fourth team in four seasons.
