The Redskins have hired former San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith to their front office as an adviser.

Smith was fired following the 2012 season after 10 years as the Chargers’ general manager. He met with the Redskins and several other teams in Indianapolis, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

Two people confirmed the report and one said that Smith has since been evaluating talent with Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen.

Smith’s son, Kyle, works as a scout with the Redskins.
