Todd McShay of ESPN said on “Sportscenter” Thursday that he is hearing “a lot of buzz” about the Rams moving up in the draft for West Virginia WR Tavon Austin.
It has been no secret all spring that the Rams desperately need a playmaker to bolster QB Sam Bradford and many early mocks had the Rams drafting Austin at No.16. It now looks like No.16 won’t cut it and most observers believe any team coveting Austin needs to move ahead of the New York Jets at No.9.
Even that may not get it done if you believe the reports that the Buffalo Bills at No.8 have Austin listed as the top player overall on their draft board.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher even personally selected Austin as the Rams pick at No.126 at a predraft function for season ticket holders Wednesday night but trading up for an undersized wideout does not seem to be his style regardless of Austin’s talent.
