Panthers Cam Newton Out Against the Cardinals; Kyle Allen to Start at QB

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been officially ruled out of Sunday’s road game against the Cardinals according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The news was fully expected after it was announced that Newton has re-aggravated his preseason foot injury is last Thursday’s loss to the Bucs and had been unable to practice all week.

Second-year UDFA Kyle Allen will start under center.

Allen’s pedigree is not impressive but he did play well in a start against the Saints in Week 17 last season-and frankly, he couldn’t be much worse than Newton has been in the first two weeks of the 2019 season. The Panthers may be looking at a multi-week absence for their franchise quarterback.
