After winning the Super Bowl back in February, the Baltimore Ravens look very different now. In 2013, the Ravens will be without some of the biggest names they have had on their roster for the past several years like: Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard, Anquan Boldin, and Paul Kruger. Although the team was able to get some help with free agency by landing Elvis Dumervil and Michael Huff, the team will still need some big help with their twelve picks in the 2013 NFL Draft so that the team will not miss a step and be a contender for the Super Bowl again this year.
We know the Ravens have brought in Tavon Austin and Nate Williams in for workouts. Those are two of the biggest names they have brought in as of yet. We also know that with Boldin gone, receiver Torrey Smith‘s role will climb in 2013. Baltimore is expected to grab a receiver or two when the draft starts on the 25th. However, no need might be stronger than inside linebacker right now for the Ravens.
That is how the Ravens are linked up with Kevin Minter and Manti Te’o. Both players are good defenders of the run (Te’o better), but there is question if Te’o will succeed at the next level. Scouts and evaluators are unsure if Te’o can cover at the next level even though he had a good year in coverage in 2012. He does not have the speed that the ‘new-age’ linebackers possess today. Minter is faster than Te’o although not as aggressive as the Notre Dame linebacker.
