The New York Jets had a busy first day chatting with players that are going to be free agents on Wednesday, and continue to rebuild their linebacker core in a big way.
Late Monday the team agreed to ink Vikings free agent Anthony Barr to a deal, and early Tuesday morning the team added another big name linebacker, agreeing to terms with Baltimore Ravens linebacker C.J. Mosley.
The Jets are backing up the Brinks truck for Mosley, giving him a massive five-year, $85 million deal with $51 million guaranteed.
The deal will pay him an annual average value of $17 million per year, the most money committed to an inside linebacker in the NFL.
Mosley is a very good player that will upgrade the Jets LB core. He spent his first five seasons with the Ravens and made four Pro Bowls.
The linebacker was second-team All Pro four times, and he put up 100 tackles in every season except 2016, when he missed two games.
He has nine interceptions and five fumble recoveries in his career.
