Jets quarterback Sam Darnold underwent minor surgery to repair a thumb ligament on his non-throwing hand, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
He’s not expected to miss any time this offseason when players report back to the team facility in the spring. His offseason training in Southern California won’t be impacted in any meaningful manner, either.
Darnold injured his thumb in a loss to the Jaguars in late October before playing the rest of the season with a brace. He altered his handoffs by using two hands for the final couple months of the season, but didn’t impact his throwing in any tangible way.
Darnold said after the season that he would need more tests before determining whether or not he would require surgery.
