New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley Thinks Rookie QB Jones Will Win Multiple Super Bowls

When the New York Giants surprised the rest of the league with drafting quarterback Daniel Jones in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, many Giants fans were irate with the selection.

When you check sites like odds by you will see that even with the addition of Jones, the Giants are only expected to win six or seven games this year, not anything close to being a Super Bowl contender out of the NFC East.

Jones is doing his best to try and shed the label of a player that the Giants should not have drafted, and there’s one star player on the team that is clearly on his side in all the hoopla if he’s going to be a solid NFL quarterback or not.

That player is last season’s first round pick running back Saquon Barkley, who despite a tough season overall for the Giants had a great rookie season.

Barkley is firmly in the corner of Jones, and he feels that the rookie quarterback will lead the team to not just one, but multiple Super Bowl titles.

The NFL Rookie of the Year spoke to reporters at his football camp on Saturday about the matter.

Barkley said the sixth overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, had an excellent second week of Organized Team Activities. Barkley also addressed the negative feedback to the Giants drafting Jones.

“[People say] right now, ‘Oh, you’re an awful pick,’ but when he wins two Super Bowls, everyone’s going to be like, ‘He was the greatest pick of all time,” Barkley said.

Jones is expected to be the eventual replacement for Eli Manning, who came to the Giants from the San Diego Chargers in 2004 after being drafted in the first round and a trade was made to get Manning to the Giants.

When Jones does get the keys to the Giants offense, he will have big shoes to fill, as Eli and his older brother, Peyton, are only two of 12 quarterbacks to win multiple Super Bowls as starters.

Manning was able to pull off one of the biggest NFL upsets in history when he helped the Giants beat the undefeated New England Patriots in 2007, and also beat New England a few seasons later in Indianapolis, once again topping future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.

For Jones, sure he may win a few Super Bowls, but he’s got a long way to go in order to get there, but it’s good to have a player like Barkley in his corner to start the 2019 season.
