It’s hard to think that the Dolphins have made themselves a better football team with the amount of players that the team has sent packing the last few days.
The Dolphins in some circles may be now one of the worst teams in the league, but don’t tell new coach Brian Flores that this club is ‘tanking’ in any way.
“This game means a lot to me,” he said, per Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald.
“I wouldn’t disrespect the game with that. Again, no, we’re not. We’re going to try to win every game. I think that’s disrespectful to even to say that. … It’s disheartening to hear people talk about it, to even say that. For a guy who respects the game as much as the game has done for me, when people say that, it’s extremely sad.”
Sure it may be ‘sad’ that people are thinking that, but let’s also call it as it is – the Dolphins are not a very talented team right now.
Kenny Stills was one of their biggest playmakers, and he’s gone, and the team is going to try and win games with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is way past his prime.
Left tackle Laremy Tunsil and linebacker Kiko Alonso are also gone, again hurting any chance that this team may have had of being competitive in 2019.
The attitude of Flores does give the fans hope this team won’t be as bad as many think they will be – but make no mistake, the Dolphins are going to struggle this season.
