In an effort to clear significant cap space, the Jets released veterans Calvin Pace, Jason Smith and Eric Smith from the roster. Later on in the day, the team also said good-bye to LB Bart Scott.

TE Josh Baker, who spent the season on injured reserve, was also released.

The move should provide the Jets slightly more than $31 million in salary cap relief. Jason Smith, who came over in the Wayne Hunter trade, accounted for $12 million alone.
