There’s been plenty of the movement with free agency and now the draft in the NFL this offseason, and there’s still plenty to come before teams kickoff the season in early September.
It’s always fun to look and see what teams might have struggled in 2018 could take a big step in the other direction in 2019.
If you look at BetAmerica sportsbook you’ll always have your standards like the Patriots, Rams, Saints and Chiefs as the favorites to do the most damage in the NFL this season, but today we’ll look at a few teams that could upset and surprise this season as well.
1. Arizona Cardinals
This is an easy one. The Cards are coming off a 3-13 season, they have a new coach in USC’s Kliff Kingsbury, and also the first overall pick in QB Kyler Murray running the show at the QB spot.
It’s a stretch to think that the Cardinals with a rookie QB and coach are going to make enough of a turnaround to make it far this season, but a couple bounces the right way and the Cards could win eight games in 2019.
2. Carolina Panthers
2018 was a tough season for Ron Rivera and the Cats in Carolina, and an injury to star QB Cam Newton derailed their season to the point where they went 7-9.
Newton is at a crossroads in his career, and many think that he will have a turnaround season and the Panthers should be able to go from a seven win team to one that could win 10 games and challenge the Saints in the NFC South to possibly win the division.
If the Panthers can stay healthy and get their QB back to 100 percent, it will got along way to making them again a contender.
3. Buffalo Bills
The biggest thing of the Bills in 2018 is that they found a quarterback. Josh Allen’s feet as well as his arm can go a long way to making this team a contender in 2019.
The AFC East is in flux, the Pats are going to (per usual) be the favorite, but after that the Jets, Dolphins and Bills all have things they need to do in order to get better.
The Bills can easily win eight games with as bad as the division is.
4. Oakland Raiders
The silver and black landed superstar wide out Antonio Brown, and they also have a number of high draft picks that could make a big impact for them this season.
Derek Carr has to win over his head coach in Jon Gruden, and Brown has to watch his mouth and be a good leader on a team that really needs it.
Look for Oakland to be a team that is competitive, but if Carr and Brown are on the same page, they can be a 9-10 win team.
