The Falcons have signed free-agent defensive end Osi Umenyiora, a league source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Umenyiora’s two-year deal is for for $8.5 million, with a max value of $12 million, and includes $5 million guaranteed.
Umenyiora had 43 tackles and six sacks last season for the New York Giants. Following the 2010 season, in which he had 11.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles, Umenyiora clashed with general manager Jerry Reese over his desire for a new contract.
Umenyiora, who has a home in Atlanta, was one of the top free agents left on the open market.
