For the first time since 1963, a running back was not selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Alabama’s Eddie Lacy is expected to be the first off the board when the draft resume tonight.
And according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and NFL.com, Lacy won’t have to wait too long. He reports Lacy is likely to be chosen in the first six or seven picks of the second-round.
Rapoport notes the Cardinals at No. 38 “really like” Lacy for his power and slashing ability, but the Cardinals might have competition for his services.
The Bengals, at No. 37, also need help in the backfield and are on the hunt for a complimentary back for BenJarvus Green-Ellis, according to Rapoport.
