The Cowboys are not waiting long to make roster moves as camp gets rolling, as the team has released veteran wide out Allen Hurns.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team asked Hurns to take a pay cut, but the veteran preferred to try his hand as a free agent. There’s no word on whether the door would be open for a return if Hurns doesn’t find a better offer than Dallas sent his way.
Hurns has been trying to make his way back from a serious leg injury, but the team must have felt that either he was too far away to make an impact this year, or that the team didn’t feel he was worth what his contract had been paying him.
Last season Hurns caught 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Making the move will clear $5 mil in cap space for the Cowboys.
