Could Falcons WR Horn Get Moved to Dallas?
Filed Under Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Rumors | 2 Comments

The Cowboys are continuing to check the market for pass catchers, and one receiver that they may some interest in is Falcons WR Joe Horn, who is not happy with the Falcons. NFL Network’s Adam Schefter threw out the report that the team is keeping an eye on the situation with Horn and the Falcons.
Schefter says Horn has become “plan 1A” for Dallas if Terry Glenn doesn’t sign his injury waiver and the Cowboys could send Atlanta a late-round pick. Last season in 12 games for the Falcons Horn caught just 27 passes for 243 yards and one score. He was expected to come in and be a big influence in the locker room, but after he was told that he was not going to get much playing time in 2009, he reportedly told the team he wanted out.
Horn does not have much gas left in the tank at 36, and is a far cry from even the receiver he was 2-3 years ago when he was making plays with the Saints. His best season with New Orleans came in 2004 when in 16 games he caught 94 passes for 1399 yards and 11 scores. The Cowboys will keep their options with both Glenn and possibly Horn open as training camp gets going.

Eagles Looking At Fitzgerald: Philadelphia Looking Into McNabb’s Best Interest
Filed Under 2008 Free Agency, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, Rumors | 1 Comment
Rumors Of Cardinal To Eagle, From One Bird To Another: A report from The News Journal has Larry Fitzgerald going to the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade scenario which takes on new intrigue daily, with an offer surfacing Friday that the Eagles have submitted a trade proposal to Arizona to acquire the Pro Bowl wide receiver.
The Cardinals and Fitzgerald contract renegotiations have been in a standstill, according to The Arizona Republic, which also reported that the Eagles have offered All-Pro cornerback Lito Sheppard and wide receiver Reggie Brown as trade bait with hopes of luring the Cardinals into dealing away the former Pittsburgh Panther if they can’t reach an agreement to rework his contract.
A league source confirmed to The News Journal that the Eagles have made a deal that looks attractive to Arizona on paper, but the source couldn’t further elaborate on the details of the trade offer. The Cardinals still hold out hope of reaching a new deal with Fitzgerald or having him play out the rest of his contract, according to The Arizona Republic report.
Fitzgerald, 24, is scheduled to make $14.6 million in 2008 and $17.4 million in 2009, the final year of his contract. Cardinals general manager Rod Graves has unquestionably stated that Fitzgerald will stay a Cardinal.
Makings Of A Real Offense: If Philly makes this deal happen they will come out as big-time winners obtaining an elite top-flight WR, giving Donovan McNabb his best target since Terrell Owens. McNabb has been surrounded by inconsistent, (Kevin Curtis) underachieving (Reggie Brown) wideouts that have not been able to produce under pressure and perform to expectations when he, and the Eagles need ’em the most. Fitzgerald is considered an upper echelon pass catcher and has the size and strength to cure Philly’s red zone problems, woes that were so dismal they went 23 of 54 in converting opportunities into touchdowns inside the 20. After falling short in a legitimate attempt to sign Randy Moss, in which they offered him more cash than NE did, it looks like the Eagles are taking a bold, go for it all approach in trying to land a #1 receiving threat.
Help On The Way For McNabb: I believe the 6-foot 3, 226-pound reliable wideout is worth pursuing heavily and he certainly fits the bill for what Philly/McNabb is looking for. The proposal of Fitzgerald for Sheppard and Brown would make sense for both teams with the way Arizona’s shaky secondary is, partly due to injuries and lack of a second CB. Of course this trade would bolster Philadelphia’s chances more, as adding Fitzgerald would qualify them to make a run at both Dallas and New York for the NFC East Division Title. McNabb needs a #1 WR in order for the Eagles to become championship contenders and you can count on Larry Fitzgerald being that go-to-guy to come through in the clutch. If Philly can pull this trade off and receive the 100-catch, 1400-yard, 10 touchdown (’07 #s) caliber player in Fitzgerald the sky is the limit for this offense and remember he was playing through a groin injury most of last season! Imagine pairing up Larry with the multi-threat, ultra-versatile weapon they call Brian Westbrook and you have an offense that has the talent and supporting cast around Donovan to outscore the opposition every Sunday if they needed to!
Contender Or Pretender: With the way they finished business on a good note at the end of the ‘07 campaign, can Eagles fans say: Division Title? NFC Champions? Super Bowl Run in ‘08? At the very least they can say they would have an offense capable of lighting up the scoreboard, putting them in position to win more than the 8 games they won last year! The defense wasn’t the problem in ‘07, the offense was, but if Fitzgerald can make his way to the city of “Brotherly Love“, “Rocky“ and “Cheesesteaks” you won’t be hearing about red zone difficulties, chip-shot field goals, shortcomings in the passing game, and missed opportunities, and you definitely wouldn’t have the chance to fault the Eagles anymore because of their offense.
