Carolina Panthers Release Veteran Wide Out Donte Moncrief

It’s not been a good season for wide receiver Donte Moncrief, as for the second time this season the veteran has been released.

Friday the Panthers announced that they put Moncrief on waivers. The team used the roster spot to promote wide receiver/kick returner Greg Dortch from the practice squad.

The year for Moncrief started in Pittsburgh with the Steelers, but he never got on track after dropping four passes in the Steelers 33-3 opening night loss at New England.

He didn’t see the field much after that, and was waived by the Steelers before coming to the Panthers in early November.

In five games with Pittsburgh Moncrief had four catches for 18 yards in five games. He had no catches in three games for the Panthers.

Dortch returned two punts for 11 yards and two kickoffs for 52 yards against the Titans earlier this season.
