The Bills released Tuesday released starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, a QB wasn’t 100 percent assured a starting job this next season.
Fitzpatrick was just 20-33 as a starter over four seasons with the Bills. He was in the middle of a six-year, $59 million contract extension signed in October 2011.
General manager Buddy Nix claimed that Buffalo kept “every possible option open,” before reaching the decision.
The Bills signed QB Tarvaris Jackson, and he was expected to compete for a starting job with Fitz this next season in Buffalo.
Fitzpatrick was the second-highest player on the Bills’ roster, set to make a base salary of $4.25 million, in addition to a $3 million roster bonus, in 2013.
