It has not been that great of a season for Niners kicker David Akers, as he’s been inconsistent this entire season.

The Niners kicker has missed 15 of his past 38 attempts dating back to Week 3 and held off Billy Cundiff in a weeklong kicking competition. Sunday in the NFC Championship game, he missed a 38 yard field goal and there was some thought the 49ers might bring in a new kicker for the Super Bowl.

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bayarea reports coach Jim Harbaugh said Akers will be 49ers kicker in the Super Bowl, and no other kicker will come try out for the team over the week in between.
