The Lions want to upgrade the run game in 2018 and have it more as a part of the team’s offense, but made somewhat of a surprising roster move at the position on Saturday.
Sources: The #Lions are releasing RB Theo Riddick. A bit of a surprise.

Riddick was a very good third down back for the Lions, as he put up an average of 62 catches per year over the last four seasons with Detroit.
The team added C.J. Anderson and Ty Johnson this offseason, so expect one of them to take the workload that would have gone to Riddick.
The 28-year-old caught a career-high 80 passes for 697 yards in 2015.
