It’s been another great season so far in the NFL and with the Super Bowl LI upon us, it’s only set to get better.
The Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texas, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders have all been eliminated from the competition, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers crashing out on Sunday. The New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons remain and will face off against one another in Houston.
After a consistent season, it’s not surprising that all eyes are on the New England Patriots. With odds of 4/6 to take the Super Bowl title, plus a number of NFL free bets available online, the team is backed to follow through on their current run of form and improve upon a win percentage of .875.
Another impressive feat by the Patriots this season is that they have scored 441 points and conceded only 250. That’s 128 less than any other team in the AFC Eastern Conference.
With the Patriots standing unbeaten in seven and boasting a watertight defense, it’s no surprise they are the favorites to win. They dominated the entirety of the game against the Steelers over the weekend and romped to a 36-17 victory. It seems safe to say that the Patriots winning streak could remain unshaken.
On the other hand, the Atlanta Falcons know how to take advantage of other player’s weak points – as evidenced perfectly in their game against the Packers over the weekend, which they won 44-21.
Having finished top of the NFC Southern Conference, the Falcons have shown great form this season with 11 wins and just five losses to their name. Their prowess in attack is undoubtedly their key to winning games, and after starting out the season with 150-to-1 odds, they certainly know how to prove their critics wrong.
As for the main event, Lady Gaga’s performance has already been causing a flurry of speculation. Whether it’s during play or the half-time performance, this year’s Super Bowl LI is sure to be anything but dull.
Elsewhere in the NFL, there are a whole host of rumors being circulated in regards to the Miami Dolphins. The AFC Eastern side know more than anyone that they need to add four, if not more, rotation players to their front seven on defense. The Dolphins are said to be looking at both the draft and free agency for new recruits. At lineback, the Dolphins need to bring in two new faces but it’s reported that they may move Kiko Alonso to weakside linebacker and if space becomes available, add a middle linebacker.
As for the recently-fired Chip Kelly, it’s rumored that he may be one of three candidates in the running to replace Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan himself is said to have had interviews with the 49ers regarding their head coach position – ironically it may seem to many, as he would be filling the spot Kelly left behind.
If the start of the year is anything to go by, 2017 looks set to be an interesting and exciting year for the NFL.
