The Chiefs have signed kicker Ryan Succop to a five-year contract extension, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
According to Schefter, the extension is worth $14 million.
The last player picked in the 2009 NFL Draft, Succop is 69-of-84 (82.1 percent) on field goal attempts over the last 47 games and has never missed an extra point attempt. After recording 15 touchbacks his first two seasons, Succop has benefited from the new kickoff rules and has 30 touchbacks in 2011.
Succop was in the final year of his three-year, $1.21 million rookie contract that included a $25,250 signing bonus. Succop was not eligible to be an unrestricted free agent until 2013.
Teams have until 4pm ET on Saturday to sign players to contract extensions and use 2011 as part of the signing bonus proration.
