Last week, the Fins made a series of moves involving contract extensions.
First, the Dolphins front office handed out a 2 year extension to inside linebacker Tim Dobbins. Dobbins is expected to play a vital role on the teams defense and special teams units this year, and should provide some quality depth to help shore up the linebacking staff.
The very next day, the Dolphins then awarded special team aces, punter Brandon Fields, and long-snapper John Denney, with extensions as well.
Fields got two more years tacked on to his current deal, along with $1.59 over those two years. Fields has been one of the more reliable punters in the league in his time with the Dolphins in his short career.
Denney was given a three year extension, and will receive $2.65 million added onto his base salary. Denney’s contract now expires in 2013. Denney has not appeared anywhere else besides the long-snapping position, though he is listed as a lineman on the Dolphins roster, as well as long snapper.
