Anyone heard the latest about Tiger Woods? You know, 10 woman, text messages, etc…oh, you get your sports news from ESPN? And they are not really mentioning a lot about the situation on SportsCenter or on ESPN.com? Compare to even YAHOO (much less National Enquirer, US), it has been just a peep.

The reason is MONEY. They don’t want Tiger to do what Michael Jordan did to Sports Illustrated. After putting Jordan on the cover when he was playing baseball and telling him to quit, Jordan quit doing photo shoots or articles with Sports Illustrated. They’ve done stories on him and have had him on their cover, but not with Jordan’s support. ESPN is more concerned that the most recognized athlete in the world is never mad at them so they can do more Sunday Night Conversations and get viewers, which leads to advertising, which leads to money.

Tom Cable dream was to be a head coach. He went the full route and earned his opportunity when the time arose. Along the way, he made some “transgressions” for which he took full responsibility. He became target #1 for ESPN, who spent their time bringing up his past history with woman to ruin his career instead of focusing on sports. To them, this was “sports reporting” at their convenience. Yet, when the biggest name in the world made “transgressions”, well, that’s not “sports reporting”, that is tabloid fodder.

Either report on Tiger with the same fervor, or come out and apologize to Cable. Otherwise, ESPN is just a bunch of hypocrites.
