Finally, the San Francisco 49ers got their man as ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is reporting that wide receiver Michael Crabtree has signed on the dotted line with the team, according to NFL sources.
The deal in question consists of a six-year deal, with it being reduced to 5 should he meet or exceed some performance clauses; he is expected to report to the team’s training facility on Wednesday. The deal finally came to be when Crabtree and agent Eugene Parker got together with 49ers owner Jed York, team general manager Scot McCloughan and VP of football operations Paraag Marathe after three weeks of no discourse.
The 49ers got Crabtree at perhaps the perfect time as they are currently 3-1 and are rather thin at WR, although I suspect that it will take Crabtree a couple weeks to get up to speed.
