News has come out over the past few days about a bids to buy the Rams by a group headed by Rush Limbaugh and a group headed by St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts.  But, St. Louis Post-Dispatch has learned that the two are joining forces to submit a bit on the Rams.

First, the good news.  If a group lead by Dave Checketts, owner of the Blues, purchases the 60% stake in the Rams, the Rams will not be able to leave St. Louis.  Because of the NFL’s ownership rules, Checketts can own two sports teams, but they both have to be in the same city.  Considering that Checketts is a new owner of the Blues, he wouldn’t be in a hurry to sell the Blues to move the Rams.  Additionally, Rush Limbaugh is from Cape Girardeau, MO, so he will have a vested interest in keeping the Rams in St. Louis.

Now, the bad news.  Rush Limbaugh is Rush Limbaugh and a lot of people really hate him.  If Limbaugh buys the Rams, it will vault the Rams back into the national spotlight, but not for their play on the field, but because of Rush Limbaugh.  The Rams will find their way to late-night TV punchlines, Pardon the Interruption punchlines and non-sports news.

But, any press is good press, right?

Ain’t “No Way in Hell!” any player of african american descent could in good conscience play for a team or otherwise enrich this man.

This knuckle dragging buffoon doesn’t hide his dripping contempt for people of color, disrespect of women and anybody that doesn’t worship him and one hundred percent agree with his warped, bigoted, small mind and worldview.

In Limbaugh the Rams can believe
Cause Rush has been able to weave
    Around regulation
    To score medication
    Illegally that he’ll receive.

Decent article with interesting insight. Unfortunately it pains me to see that “Win Your Girl Back” couldn’t stay away from making this racial! Unbelievable! Surprisingly I didn’t see him add a comment when Stallworth killed the Mexican in Florida. But I guess the mike is mightier than the car. The reality is that these players are all millionaires. If the Rams are paying, they are buying.

Anyways good article here by Roman. On your second point regarding the “bad news,” you could insert Al Davis’ name for Limbaugh’s and you have the same scenario.

If this gets this franchise back on track, the fans would be ecstatic and the players would be seen as heroes. And a good example of that would be Al Lerner with the Browns. He was seen as a hero just because he was not Modell. Despite almost 10 years of poor records, it is only within the last couple years that the Cleveland fans are starting to grumble.

I hope this goes through. Limbaugh obviously loves the NFL, so for this deal to go through would be great for him, the NFL, and the Rams. Rush has one of the largest, if not the largest radio show audience in the country, the possibilities to promote his team are endless. Good for him!

Note to Rush: That turd you’re chewing is on fire. I’m just sayin’….

You’d have to wonder how Rush would react if the team wanted to draft or trade for a black QB to start for them, wouldn’t you?

I’m sure he’d be fine with blacks at other positions – as long as they “know their place” – but as the “leader” of the team?

    That’s “Whites Only” territory, innit?

Well, he’s been dropped from the bid now…so I guess this is all moot.
