As a Raider fan, here’s what I’ve seen from the weekend:
Richard Seymour Shows Up
To no surprise, Seymour will be dressed and ready to play Monday night. It is understandable on the delay that it took, I’m sure waking up that morning that wasn’t the news he was expecting. Watch for his impact; the run D has to improve from this and with 3 games decided in the last seconds last year, might turn the Raiders into someone who can compete for a playoff spot.
Denver Broncos Tips itself to first win; Kansas City Chiefs shows some signs in loss
The Broncos should have never been in the position to begin with, they were in control much of the game until the last 6 minutes. A lucky bounce, and 3 Bengals attacking Brandon Marshall, led to their first win. Hard to tell for sure, but if their D is this solid, they have the chance to be a surprise team this year.
The Chiefs youth should during their game with the Ravens; the game should have been closer to a 38-14 final score than 38-24. They played hard, but didn’t take chances at the end of the first half that could have given them some needed momentum. I still see a long year from them with a couple of wins in between that will surprise a team or 2, but week in week out I can’t see how they will be able to keep the other team from not scoring and keep the pressure off of their offense.
New York Ravens
Rex Ryan has already put his stamp on this team. The team has taken on the attitude of their coach, walked into one of the toughest home advantages in the league with a rookie quarterback, and completely dominated the game. Take away Mark Sanchez’s one mistake, and there was no reason why they Houston Texans should have even been on the field. I see the Jets replacing the Dolphins both in their division and the wildcard race as a contender, and give the Raiders another opponent on their schedule that will make/break their playoff chances.
