That didn’t take long. Just one week after him joining the team, there’s reports that Brett Favre is already causing some kind of division in the Vikings locker room. Adam Schefter of ESPN ran that report last night, and now it’s making national headlines.
The Pioneer Press in Minneapolis is reporting otherwise though. Today they are saying that despite the report – all is well:
Reports that there is an “issue,” “schism” or “faction” in the Vikings’ locker room over who will start at quarterback was news to 13 players, including nine offensive and defensive starters, Wednesday evening. To encourage candor, the Pioneer Press contacted players expected to make the final 53-man roster and offered them anonymity to address how they felt about who should start at quarterback and if they had heard any teammates discussing the “issue” or “schism.”
Two of the veteran starters spoke on the record. “I’m in the mix, but I haven’t heard anyone talk about that,” starting tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said. “The locker room is not divided at all. “Everyone is going to have their own opinions, and everyone is not going to like everyone all the time. But we don’t have time for that dumb (expletive).” Vikings Pro Bowl defensive tackle Pat Williams said he hadn’t heard any whispers about a possible rift regarding the quarterbacks.
This comes after last season the Jets locker room also reportedly became divided after Favre showed up, and we all know how that ended. It will be interesting to see how this story progresses as Favre continues wearing purple.

The real drama is going to start when Brett starts throwing his world famous pick-6′s in OT and at crucial junctures of the game. Tavaris or Sage will end the season as the starter.
Nah, Childress will go down with favre just like Mangini did in NY. I’m not surprised the locker room is split. But we all know that winning is the great deodorant
