Last season there were plenty of rumors going around about the issues that faced then Browns TE Kellen Winslow when he got “hurt” with a staph infection. The rumors mostly dealt with some sort of sexual disease or issue with his testicles.

Well, turns out that the rumors were true, as Winslow is now stating that the infection did have to do with his groin area, but figured the problem simply disappear. The TE said that by the next morning “my testicles were enlarged, to the point where it hurt to walk.”

Winslow told ESPN’s Seth Wickersham all about the infection, as well as how he felt that the Browns ended up treating him “like a piece of meat.” The article about Winslow and the infection will appear in the July 27th edition of ESPN the Magazine.

When it came to the infection and what they did, Winslow said “they had to drain it. They had a scalpel. They cut into it. I had to clean it every day with a Q-Tip, for two and a half weeks. It was the most painful thing I’ve ever been through.”

Winslow also was upset that the Browns players never really seemed to step up to his defense. “I was real disappointed when no one came to my defense,” Winslow told Wickersham. “They don’t want to get suspended or have conduct detrimental to the team, but you’ve gotta be a man sometimes.”

We’ll see if Winslow is more of a man in Tampa Bay.
