Dear Chiefs (coaches, GM, board of directors -- you fill it in),
Although I no longer live in the area, I have been a Chiefs fan since they first moved to KC. And although I can't believe how far they've fallen since their glory days, they're still my team, thick or thin.
I've waited patiently for the light to come on upstairs at Chiefs' HQ re Matt Jones. To no avail.
Now, I see where my Chiefs've just signed a taxi squad receiver, for Pete's sake. Meanwhile, Matt is being treated as if he'd killed the Pope. And for what? For being stupid. My gawd, Chiefs, we have convicted felons and violent offenders playing in the NFL, and you won't give this guy a shot because he was caught ONCE with drugs? He's a big kid!
I STRONGLY agree with James, John and Jean Anne. Give the KID a chance! He's a good person and one helluva football player.

Benefit:risk ratio with Matt Jones is a no brainer...Being a former KC resident who loves our Chiefs, who is also an avid Razorback fan, this would be NFL nirvana for me.

To say Matt Jones has a drug habit stretches longer than his legs. He IS NOT an addict. He was NEVER a regular user of cocaine or any other hard drug.
After his stupid cocaine trip in a restaraunt parking lot, he took his legal medicine like a man.
THEN he drank TWO BEERS on a golf course. TWO BEERS and that turned his world upside down. For God's sake, by that criteria I have two beer problem.
Jones has just three problems now.
1. The Jaquars wanted a cheerleader instead of a great WR. He ain't no cheerleader. He's as laid back as a sloth on the bench. Always was, always will be.
2. In spite of black Jaquar quartebacks preferring black rcievers, Matt was on the way to a 1000 yard season, when it hit the fan in Arkansas.
#.Another problem is the dumb-asses that don't know that youngsters have problems growing up. And believe me, Matt is still a youngster.
When you have seen as many young skunks heads caught in yoplait yogurt cans, young possums caught in sewer pipe, fried squirrels on power lines, etc.,as I have, you begin to understand and tolerate.
Tolerate and someone will be grandly rewarded. Not just in Heaven, but at the goal line.

Yee who has without young, dumb, very stupid mistakes, step up to the WR job yourself.

Strongly disagree with the above post. How do we know Jones is a coke addict? He was caught with cocaine ONCE. He may have just tried it a few times. Back in the 70s and 80s a fairly large portion of Americans tried cocaine.

Anyway, Matt Jones was on pace for 1,000 receiving yards last year before his suspension. With a QB who is good on the long ball (Gerrard was more of an intermediate, short throw and scrambling QB), Jones may push toward 1,400 yards with Matt Cassell at the helm. Jones has all the talent in the world and it was his first full HEALTHY season last year WITHOUT QB SWITCH.

If teams are still interested in OLD Marvin Harrison who is possibly connected to a shooting and seemed to lack effort last year OR Pac Man...(Pac Man gets multiple chances- possibly yet another one when he is possibly connected to two shootings and has had multiple other offenses) why is no one interested in a guy who was caught with coke ONCE. His second "OFFENSE" was merely drinking a beer at a golf outing while on probation.

What about Leonard Little or Donte Stallworth who killed people while driving drunk? They are still in the league. Teams have inquired about Plaxico- who put peoples lives in jeopardy with an unregistered semi automatic weapon at a club. Vick may get a second chance when he killed and tortured dogs.

It is utter insanity that Jones isn't getting a mere SECOND chance when he has no violent history and is a young player with vast potential.

Chiefs go out and get Jones!

The big reason Jones hasn't been signed yet is due to his ongoing substance abuse problems. No teams seem to be willing to spend money on a guy with a cocaine habit that hasn't put up big numbers. I personally think Marvin Harrison is the smarter addition, but I agree that Bowe needs help at receiver if he's ever going to be a legitimate threat.
