Cardinals DE Dockett Says Contract Talks Won’t be a Distraction
Posted by Matt Loede under Arizona Cardinals

Talk continues to go on about a new deal for DE Darnell Dockett. Even though Dockett has three years left on his deal, he wants a new deal, and it looks like the team is doing its best to get him what he wants. ESPN reported on the talks earlier today:
Defensive end Darnell Dockett announced on his Twitter page that he has full faith in the Cardinals after meeting with the team. Dockett, who has three years left on his deal, was seeking a new deal but is now apparently backing down from that demand.
“I am happy to announce that after meeting with the team recently, I have full faith and confidence in the Cardinals organization and I am looking forward to a great season. From the first day of training camp and on, I will not let my contract issues distract me or my team from reaching our goals. I also look forward to playing with my teammates and defending our NFC championship title and I appreciate the support I’ve received from all my fans this offseason.”
Dockett is a key member of the Cardinals defense, and while he’s needed, it’s important that any sort of contract talks do not get in the way of the teams NFC championship title defense in 2009.
