With Fat Albert Out of Tennessee, Schaub Vows to Play 16 Game Season

Whether its a crushing hit from Fat Albert Haynesworth, Drayton Florence or Jared Allen, the Houston Texans’ starting quarterback, Matt Schaub, knows how difficult it is to stay healthy in the NFL. Over the past two seasons with the Texans Schaub has missed at least five games per year.

Although he’s improved by leaps and bounds, one away game at a time, each year Schaub leaves the Texans with a second-rate quarterback and a mediocre to losing record. But don’t count out Matt this year. He doesn’t want his career to be plagued with injuries, starting with this year:

“I am going to be out there 16 weeks this year. I feel good. Offseason work, weight room, conditioning, I feel like it’s going to happen this year, I’m going to make sure it does,” Schaub said.

If true, expect the Texans to make their first playoff splash since joining the League in 2002. It has been a long wait for the improved Texans, and I’m sure Matt, Andre and Dunta are just as eager as Bob McNair to make it past a .500 record and into the playoffs.
