Reports say that former Bears QB Rex Grossman is ready to ink a one-year deal with the Texans as the backup or third QB to Matt Schaub and possibly Dan Orlovsky. The deal is expected to become official after Grossman passed a physical given by the club.

Grossman, an unrestricted free agent, led the Chicago Bears to the NFC championship in 2006. The 28-year-old will compete with Alex Brink to be Houston’s third quarterback behind Schaub and Orlovsky, who spent last season in Detroit.

Grossman has spent his six-year career in Chicago, where he had 33 touchdowns and 35 interceptions.
