The Rams could have a new local buyer, as NHL’s St.Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts has come forward with an interest in buying the club, which is for sale. “We have the ability to get this done and we have communicated this to the Rams,” Checketts told St.Louis Post Dispatch’s Bernie Miklasz via e-mail. “We approached this with the Rams months ago and have since that time put together a partnership of both concerned St. Louisans and outside capital.
“Last week, we communicated to Chip Rosenbloom in no uncertain terms, that he now has a clear St. Louis buyer. We are that buyer.”
Rosenbloom has already said that he’d like to keep the team in St.Louis, but with no second bidder, he has little leverage and may have to move the team to Checketts unless someone else or another group gets their money together and enters the fray.
There’s also word that Stan Kroenke, who already owns 40 percent of the team, wants to purchase controlling interest in the team.
