Lions Cut OT George Foster; Jansen Ready to Take Position
Posted by Matt Loede under Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins

The Lions today cut offensive tackle George Foster, which is turn paves the way for the team to officially add former Redskins tackle Jon Jansen. The release comes on the day that the Lions were supposed to get a physical done with Jansen to see if he was 100 percent and then would be joining the team.
Foster was acquired by the Lions before the 2007 season as part of a trade with Denver for Dre’ Bly. Foster had been a three-year starter for the Broncos. Jansen was cut by the Redskins on Friday and later that day said he will sign a one-year contract with the Lions if he passes a physical.
He started in all but one game over seven seasons after being drafted from Michigan, but didn’t play two years ago or in 2004. He had 11 starts last season.
