Jets RB Jones Finally Shows Up to Practice
Posted by Matt Loede under New York Jets

Despite being unhappy about is current contract status, Jets RB Thomas Jones showed up to be with his team on Wednesday. He’s been absent becuase the team has been unwilling to work with him on a new deal. Jones is in the third year of a four-year, $20 million contract and already has made $13 million of that. He’s due to make $900,000 in base salary in 2009.
The Jets have Leon Washington, and also drafted Iowa RB Shonn Greene in the third-round if Jones declares he’s going to stay away for a long time. In another interesting twist, Washington is also unhappy with his contract, and he recently quit attending Jets OTA’s.
Jones led the AFC in rushing last season with 1,312 yards and went to the Pro Bowl. He had 15 total TDs (career high) and 13 rushing TDs were career highs and he averaged a strong 4.5 yards a carry.
