RealScouts continues to support my claim that the Minnesota Vikings are absolutely loaded with elite talent at many positions. For the second time this week, they have come out with a positional ranking that leaves the Vikings at the top of the list. Earlier, it was Adrian Peterson, this time it’s DE Jared Allen.
“ Not only does Allen have 30 sacks over the last two seasons, he is a stout run defender who plays with a lot of heart and hustle. His ability to draw protection schemes helps Kevin and Pat Williams inside.”
RealScouts went on to explain their rating process on Defensive Ends by stating “ Here’s the thing to remember about the defensive ends: It’s not only about the pass rush. That’s where many NFL ends make their impact plays, but players who can also defend the run, drop in zone schemes and play full-time are the guys who rise to the elite level.“
RealScouts is a Sporting News’ affiliate that employs a team of former NFL scouts who rank their annual top 20 at each position.
The rest of the top 10 is listed below in order:
2. Julius Peppers – Panthers
3. Dwight Freeney – Colts
4. Mario Williams – Texans
5. Richard Seymour – Patriots
6. Aaron Smith – Steelers
7. Osi Umenyiora – Giants
8. Justin Tuck – Giants
9. Patrick Kerney – Seahawks
10. Kyle Vanden Bosch – Titans
