Dolphin Stadium to Become Officially Known as Landshark Stadium

Dolphin Stadium will have a new name come the 2009 season, as now it will be known as Landshark Stadium. The deal comes from the new partnership with Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. The enterprise includes Landshark Lager, brewed by Anheuser-Busch.

It is the fifth time that the stadium changed it’s name since the stadium opened in 1987. Buffett and new Dolphins owner Stephen Ross are friends. They plan to unveil a new logo for the stadium at a private event Friday, where Buffett will perform a song inspired by the Dolphins.

The stadium, which has lacked a corporate sponsor for several years, will be the site of the Super Bowl for the fifth time next February. It’s the home for the Dolphins, Miami Hurricanes and Florida Marlins. The NFL has already said that the stadium will not be allowed to be called Landshark Stadium for the Super Bowl or the Pro Bowl.
