The Lions announced that they will unveil their new uniforms and logo next Monday at Dunham’s Sports in Madison Heights. It will actually be a “news conference” and the news conference will be open to the public, but the time has not been determined.
Immediately after the announcement, new team merchandise will be available at the store and also on the website at www.detroitlions.com. Team merchandise will then be made available for retail purchase at Dunham’s outlets in Michigan through Thursday. It will be distributed more widely after that.
Team president Tom Lewand commented about the event while speaking with reporters at Ford Field and Lewand conceded that he was encouraged about the new look of the Leaping Lion logo, of which an alleged version was leaked last month on nflshop.com.
“The interest in everything, I think, is heartening because the interest level that people have ever since we teased the possibility that this may be coming is, I think, very indicative of the interest level that our fans have in the real product, which is out there on Sunday afternoons,” Lewand said. “That gives us great confidence, although a recognition of great responsibility that we have to get that product right first, no matter what the package looks like.”
Dunham’s in Madison Heights is located in the Madison Place Shopping Centre at 32101 John R Road.
