Terrell Owens Cut by the Cowboys

According to reports coming out of Dallas tonight the Dallas Cowboys and Terrell Owens have parted ways. It is being reported that the team has cut the controversial wide receiver.

Owens a 6 time Pro Bowler, stirred the pot towards the end of the 2008 season by complaining about quarterback Tony Romo’s tendency to focus on tight end Jason Witten rather than Owens himself.

While each of the three players brushed off any suggestion of an internal conflict, T.O.’s reputation as a clubhouse killer was maintained, especially when he publicly criticized Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett’s play-calling.

Owens has spent the last three years in Big “D” after spending his first eight years in  San Francisco followed by two years in Philadelphia.

You recall that last month Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones but a no talk ban in effect after it came out prematurely that the team had discussed releasing Owens.

“There are several decisions on our roster we have to look at,” Jones said at the time. “This is the time of year we do that. I’m not trying to be trite, but as you all know we’re evaluating players in college, we’re evaluating free agents and we’re evaluating our own roster. This is an ongoing thing, not any different than this time last year.”

Owens had just signed a new 4-year $34 million dollar contract that paid him  a $12 million dollar bonus. In his 3 years in Dallas Owens caught 235 balls for 3587 yards and 38 touchdowns.

For his career Owens has 951 receptions for 14,122 yards and 139 touchdowns. Owens does also own 2 rushing touchdowns in his career.

    this is so rediculous…owens is a good player, right now the cowboys have no room to be firing people over a trite…as jerry called it..it gonna haunt them all…no body really like the cowboys anyway..what all american team ..a snow ball has a better chance in hell than the cowboys to ever go to the superbowl again they make you sick with all that hype and no aire…tony roma has his ass up jessica simpsons butt. the reason he cant do shit…..terrell is probably wanting out anyway so he can put his tru talent where deserved he cant carry that team..jerry old ass need to retire… sometime people like jerry is an omen on a team, they will win when he disappears forever….he is a rich old fart,, i hear he pays his house employees pennies, and most of them are illegal aliens.. tax!!!

    that’s sounds truly impossible

    T.O. IS a good player. He’s also arrogant, egotistical, and has forgotten the game involves a team effort. He’s too concerned with how many times he’s thrown the ball…. instead of how many times someone got the ball in for a score. He’s too centered on being the big hero…. getting the TD…. and doesn’t seem to be interested in backing up the other players.

    He can be the best player in the world and his team can still be at the bottom of the list. If he starts playing for the team and being a part of wins, then he’s useful. Otherwise, he’s a nuisance.
