Cowboys Ware Says Lewis Wants to Play for Dallas

It appears if you believe DeMarcus Ware, current Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis does want to leave the team and go play with a star on his helmet in Dallas. Lewis, who is set to hit free agency on Friday, reportedly told Ware that it’s a dream of his to wear a star on his helmet for Dallas. Today’s Baltimore Sun has the story:

According to Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware, Ray Lewis said it’s his “dream” to play in Dallas and repeatedly expressed his desire to sign there. “When we played Ray Lewis and Baltimore at the end of the season, he came over and pointed to my helmet. He said: ‘I want to wear this star on my helmet. That’s my dream … that’s my dream,’” Ware told the Cowboys’ official Web site. “When we got to the Pro Bowl, he did it again. He came at me every day. He’s trying to get down where the star is. He told me he needed me to get him [owner] Jerry Jones’ phone number for him. I just busted out laughing.”

If the Ravens cannot reach a new contract with Lewis in four days, he will become a free agent for the first time in his 13-year career. While Lewis might be targeting Dallas, the feeling might not be mutual. The Cowboys are reportedly $10 million under the salary cap and likely will use most of that in signing Ware to a franchise-record contract.

Reports had said all along that the Ravens would do what it took to get Lewis back, but now as free agency gets closer and closer, it looks like Lewis will be a free man on Friday, and if the Cowboys make an offer to him, it will be interesting to see if he jumps at it and makes the move leaving the Ravens.

    if ware wants him in Dallas he will take a pay cut to get him…Dallas wants ware so he should give them a discount and get Lewis in my opinion
