Fred Taylor is now a free man, and there are a number of teams that are going to take a look at him as a possible complement to their current running back situation. The Chicago Tribune says that the Bears should look at Taylor, as he would be a good fit to go along with Matt Forte.
“Matt Forte is so good that it’s hard to take him off the field. But we also know we have to. We want to get him in the neighborhood of 20-25 touches a game,” offensive coordinator Ron Turner said. “That still leaves plenty of opportunities to get somebody else in there. We definitely know we need to incorporate other people.”
Last season Taylor ran for 556 yards and one TD with the Jaguars. He is a back with plenty of experience, having been around since the 1998 season. Along with the Bears taking a look at Taylor, Peter King of SI reports that these teams may also be in the mix: New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers.
