Apparently, Bill Cowher isn’t the only coach to turn down the New York Jets recently; according to SportsTicker, former Denver Broncos Mike Shanahan has also declined to meet tiwh the team for an interview. However, the reasoning for Shanahan turning down the Jets is different than Cowher’s.
Cowher was prepared to meet with the Jets, but declined when he could not meet with the team’s owner, Woody Johnson; Shanahan, on the other hand, has said that when he returns from a 2-week vacation, he will begin meeting potential suitors. The Jets as of this writing, have already interviewed team assistants Bill Callahan and Brian Schottenheimer and New York Giants defensive coordinator Stave Spagnuolo.
