Jets Fire Head Coach Eric Mangini After Late Season Collapse
Posted by Matt Loede under New York Jets

The New York Jets are headed into another direction, as the Eric Mangini era in the Big Apple is over. At a presser on Monday morning, Jets owner Woody Johnson and GM Mike Tannenbaum announced that Mangini was told last night that he was being relieved of his duties as Jets head coach.
Fox’s Jay Glazer reported earlier today that players began getting calls from team officials this morning informing them of the move. Johnson said that it was a move that was being thought about for a number of weeks, and that the final decision was made last night after the teams loss to the Dolphins that officially knocked them out of the postseason.
The Jets lost four of their last five games, and never seemed to be the same team after they beat the #1 seeded Tennessee Titans back on November 23rd in Tennessee. Another big question will be the future of Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre, who at 39 will make yet another decision to come back or retire. He threw 10 picks and just four TD’s in his last 10 games.
Tannenbaum said Monday that the team will start the process of looking at coaches today, and that they plan on moving quickly on getting a new head man in the locker room for the Jets.
